Who can participate ?

Everybody is invited to partizipate, who can identify with the Boundary-to-Bridges-Tour’s intention of bordertransgressing cultural exchange and co-operation.

We are not thinking of comming with empty hands, therefor you should reflect, what your performantiv, intelektuell or technical contribution could be.

There is no space nor place in the caravane for slackers, drug abuse and partyanachism.

What is there to do on the trip ?

There are different possibilities to contribute your knowledge and skills. Wanted are performance artist of all genres as much as activists, who achived knowlegde and experiance in the field of NoBorder politics. Technicians able to set up a stage or fix vehicles are as much welcome as people wanting to produce a „carazine“. People with language skills or desire to communicate, the ones, who like to promote environment-friendly technologies.

Essential: Bring something with you, that will be of use for others, think about more than just yourself. That’s fair enough.

What is happening on the tour?

The tour is a frame. It becomes manifest in the different places we gather to prepare and enjoy a camp. Therefor we do not need to go together close by all the way. More true we meet in the places as described in the programm.

The respective preparation in immediate advance of the gatherings is determinating what is gonna be happening there. It also depends on local contributions and planning by local partners.

Who is going to prepare the gatherings ?

In every place that the caravane gathers there is a local team of artist or activist, who is taking care of a place and the infrastructure needed for the gathering. Also they have invited regional groups to paricipate.

Everything else is to be done by the caravane after it has arrived and is gonna be developed in a common process.

Who is finanzing the tour?

You have to take care about yourself. There is a few individuals and some local and driving groups who are trying to raise funds from public donators. You should try to do so also. During the gatherings all performances and shows are principally free, e.g. there is gonna be no entry fees.

We are aiming at collective solutions for food and transportation, but realistically this can only reduce costs during the gatherings.

You should certainly start the journey only with enough cash, cause there will be no one to support you.

And is that all legal ?

Surely yes! The gatherings will be legalised by the local groups, in cooperation with local authorities. Above that everybody is subject to the usual visa-regulations and is acting fully in his or her own responsability.

Concering the Visa-regulations see the information below.

Can I participate only for a limited time ?

Sure, as much as you like. You are warmly welcome to participate only for two month or just one gathering.

Where do I find the information about the programm?

All information is gonna be processed through this site. Due to the preparation structure, we can fix programms of local gathering only briefly before they actually happen. We will honestly try to keep the site ub-dated.

Can I come without a vehicle ?

It will be possible to rely on the solidarity of other people in respect of transport, but bring your tent: The deal will usally be to share petrol and additional costs. In Morocco we can also rely on a well organised web of public transportation. By the way, there will be some artists doing the trip by bicycle. Use your illusion...

Visa and vehicles

(all informations are at best knowledge but with no garanty)

If you know things better or have more information let us know...

Who are they to tell us where we can go anyway!

We will issue NoBorder passports for everybody.

Still the real world has her claims:

Principally: All passports should be valid in October 2003 for another one and a half years.

Non EU-citizens from western europe usally underlie equal conditions as EU-citizens, but for central- and east european citizens there is differences. Please contact the respective embassies.

For Moroccans, Mauretani and Senegalese citizens, who want to participate in the caravane from Spain the entry is – thanks to fortress europe – difficult or impossible.

Maybe the spanish in the crew can arrange things, please let us know about your intentions.

The entry into Mauretania and Senegal for Moroccans is possible with a passport, no visa needed. For Mauratanis and Senegalese i do not know about the respective regulations.

Morocco

EU-citizens can enter morocco without a visa for three months. We will stay in morocco for about two month with the caravane, so that should be enough. You can bring your vehicle into morocco given that you have a valid (international) insurance, which you can also get on the border.

Senegal

For EU-citizens there is basically the same procedere in Senegal as in morocco, e.g. no visa needed, but you have to buy a carnet de passage (insurance) on the border.

Mauretania

EU-citizens have to get a visa before showing up on the border. Visas are issued by every mauretani embassy in your country or in Rabat (Morocco). Calculate that following the scedule of the caravane we will stay in Mauretania for about one month.

Your vehicle drives into Mauretania only with an insurance, that is avaiable also on the border.

What your vehicle needs?

The roads in Morocco are in generally good conditions. We will drive on highways even through Western Sahara. In the north of Mauretania we will go for about 300 kms on a non solid beachtrack, guided by locals. Apparantly also a two wheel drive in „healthy“ conditions can manange this hardest bit of the trip.

Surly you should bring a good sample of spare parts, big water and fuel tanks and tools to get yourself out of the sand.

From the capital of Mauretania until the end of the caravane in Senegal we will go on highways again.

Still you should be prepared to get stuck in the sand or even loose your vehicle. There the more people who drive in one vehicle the more difficult it will be to find places in other vehicles. So pack light!
